The third Cycle of Studies

CLASS TEACHING

The third cycle of Class Teaching Studies - Doctoral Studies in Class Teaching Methodology - 180 ECTS was established after twenty-five years of successful completion of the first cycle of studies (240 ECTS points) and seven years of the second cycle of studies (60 ECTS points). This fulfills the principle of vertical mobility of the organization of higher education provided by the Bologna Declaration and other documents in the European Higher Education Area. At the same time, it is a significant contribution to the rise of interdisciplinary scientific disciplines - the Methodology of Class Teaching.

The main goals of the study program of the Doctoral Studies in Class Teaching Methodology are reflected in the creation of competent and highly professional staff for the development and improvement of methodological sciences in the field of class teaching, development of scientific research in this field, as well as providing teaching practice for conducting university teaching in this field.

The specific goals of these studies refer to acquisition and deepening of scientific knowledge, improvement of understanding of methodological laws and theories in the classroom, interdisciplinary approach to scientific problems in this area, traiing students to independently design and implement complex scientific research that should enable the application of fundamental methodological concepts. The goals also refers to the very process of improving methodological theory and practice in the field of classroom teaching, independent scientific research, critical review of current didactic-methodological settings and scientific consideration of new opportunities for educational work, achieving scientific abilities and academic skills, development of creative abilities, critical thinking and action reflections necessary for scientific research and improvement of didactic-methodical theory and practice in the field of classroom teaching. Doctoral Studies in the Methodology of Class Teaching last 3 academic years or 6 semesters. Within each semester, the student acquires 30 ECTS points (60 ECTS ponts for the academic year), which is a total of 180 ECTS points during doctoral studies.

After completing the academic studies of the third cycle of the study program Class Teaching, by defending the doctoral thesis, the candidate acquires the scientific and academic title - PhD in Class Teaching Methodology, stating the methodological discipline from which the dissertation was defended:

  • PhD in Methodology of Class Teaching in Mathematics - 480 ECTS;
  • PhD in Methodology of Class teaching in Nature and Society - 480 ECTS;
  • PhD in Methodology of Class Teaching in Physical Education- 480 ECTS;
